Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Title Officer to join their growing team. This role is responsible for reviewing title work, resolving title issues, coordinating with underwriters, and ensuring the accuracy of title commitments, policies, and closing documents.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently, while also collaborating with a team to keep transactions moving smoothly.
This position will begin in-office training and transition to a hybrid schedule. The role can be based out of either their Westlake or Independence office.
Key Responsibilities
- Review title examinations and commitments for accuracy
- Run updates for mechanic’s liens, lien reports, and title examinations
- Assist with curative work to resolve title issues
- Prepare mechanic’s lien endorsements
- Upload recorded documents and manage files in Qualia
- Distribute title commitments to escrow officers and processors
- Review legal documents including POAs, trust agreements, operating agreements, and surveys
- Identify survey encroachments and add them to commitments
- Manage post-closing issues and title insurance claims
- Submit policy requests to underwriters and issue endorsements
- Maintain records of completed policies and distribute final policies to lenders and buyers
- Review deeds for accuracy
- Serve as a point of contact for underwriters and regulatory inquiries
- Maintain required licensing and continuing education
Qualifications
- 3+ years of title industry experience
- Strong understanding of title examinations, commitments, and curative processes
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
- Experience with Qualia is a plus
