Job Description

Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Packaging Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for creating innovative folding carton concepts from brainstorming to prototyping while ensuring production feasibility and exceeding customer expectations. The Packaging Designer will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to provide clear, accurate structural drawings and deliver projects on time.
Responsibilities

  • Follow best practices for structural creation to ensure customer needs are addressed.

  • Lead the design process for folding carton packaging, including brainstorming, sketching, and creating prototypes.

  • Work directly with clients to understand and translate their packaging structural needs.

  • Evaluate consumer and market trends for packaging materials.

  • Research technology, techniques, innovations, new products, and new materials.

  • Optimize material choices based on customer requirements and availability;provide guidance on cost-effective designs.

  • Create designs using CAD and Artios;maintain project files and CAD files.

  • Operate and maintain the sample cutting table.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Convert sketches and ideas into 2D/3D display models using cutting tables and knife tools.

  • Liaise between customers and production to ensure projects meet expectations.
Qualifications

  • Complete understanding of packaging techniques/methods and structural packaging design.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3–5+ years of job-related experience in packaging design.

  • Experience operating a sample cutting table.

  • Proficiency with Artios CAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word required.

  • Familiarity with other Esko software (Cape Pack, WebCenter) a plus.

  • Adobe applications and Salesforce knowledge desirable but not required.

  • Team player with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of staff.

  • Troubleshooting mindset, attention to detail, and excellent close vision.

  • Strong time-management skills.
