Grounds & Facilities Maintenance Technician

This position includes landscaping and groundskeeping during the warmer months, snow and ice removal during the winter, and general maintenance and light repair work throughout the year. Winter weather response is an essential part of the job, requiring availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.

This position includes landscaping and groundskeeping during the warmer months, snow and ice removal during the winter, and general maintenance and light repair work throughout the year. Winter weather response is an essential part of the job, requiring availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform snow and ice removal, including plowing, shoveling, snow blowing, and applying salt or ice melt to parking lots, sidewalks, docks, and entrances.
- Respond to winter weather call-ins outside of normal scheduled hours.
- Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and bed maintenance.
- Safely operate mowers, blowers, string trimmers, stick edgers, snow removal equipment, and light trucks.
- Keep parking lots, sidewalks, dock areas, and exterior grounds safe, clean, and orderly.
- Perform general facility maintenance, labor, and minor building and site repairs.
- Perform basic electrical and plumbing repairs that do not require a licensed trade.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles and report repair needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and wear required PPE.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in snow removal, landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to safely operate snow removal, landscaping, and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Reliable transportation and ability to report to the assigned facility within 60 minutes when called in for a winter weather event.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Ability to work extended and consecutive shifts during winter weather events.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive shoveling, lifting, and equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold, snow, ice, heat, humidity, and rain.
- Work may take place outdoors as well as in unheated warehouse, dock, and yard areas.
- Exposure to noise, dust, exhaust, fumes, and moving equipment and vehicles.
- Winter on-call availability is required, with overtime and night, weekend, and holiday work expected during snow and ice events.
- Schedule and hours vary by season and weather conditions.
- Required PPE includes safety footwear, high-visibility apparel, work gloves, and eye and hearing protection as assigned and provided.
- Position is subject to the company's drug and alcohol testing policy.
