Job Description


Through experience, education and technical ability, our client has become a strong leader in fabrication, welding, assembly and structural projects. We are currently seeking a CAD Drafter/Designer to join their growing team. This individual will be responsible for drawing and designing of structural steel assemblies and parts per customer specifications. Completing drawings accurately and in a timely fashion so that production lead times can be met. Engaging with Project Managers to answer questions and coordinating with shop personnel to ensure accurate conveyance of design intent. Only candidates local to Northeast Ohio will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Expertise in AutoCAD is required. SolidWorks or Inventor experience is a plus.
  • Must have at least 5 years' experience.
  • Employee needs to be able to create new steel fabrication drawings and assemblies in the above software
  • Must have experience with structural steel, industrial stairs, handrail and platforms and should be familiar with OSHA requirements on such.
  • Read & interpret customer provided drawings and ability to convert to cost efficient fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
  • Understanding of how to read blueprints including specifications and elevations
  • Create drawings of assemblies and coordinate directly with Project Manager regarding customer specifications.
  • Submit completed fabrication drawings and assembly instructions to Project Manager for review
  • Coordinate with Operations team to answer questions about designs, blueprints for fabrication and assembly instructions
  • Develop files and nest plots for plasma cutting per company operating procedures
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Operations team to release estimated projects to the floor accurately and in a timely fashion per company operating procedures
  • Coordinate with Operations team to understand and develop efficiencies of workflow during fabrication phase
  • Maintain proper file management procedures
  • All other tasks as deemed necessary by company management

Requirements:
  • Education –Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Preferred experience in the custom fabrication of structural steel assemblies
  • Additional Experience –5+ years’experience with AutoCAD and industrial design work
  • Positive attitude with strong teamwork mentality
  • Strong work ethic and personally motivated to overachieve
  • Team oriented contributor
